Who
we are
The Iowa Prescription Drug
Corporation, a not for profit organization, was established in 2001. The
corporation's goal was to help ease the financial burden of the high cost of
prescription medications for the Medicare eligible Iowan. The corporation
made available Iowa
Priority, a discount card for Iowa's
Medciare population, beginning January 2002. In 2004 a second card called
Priority Plus was made available through a contract with Medicare. Both cards
helped reduce the cost of prescrition medications.
- In 2005 the board expanded the goal of the corporation to include the uninsured and underinsured population.
- In 2006 the Corporation was awarded a five year contract from the Iowa Department of Public Health to establish the Iowa Prescription Drug Donation Program. In 2007 the program received a contract from the Iowa Collaborative Safty Net Provider Network to expand the program to Safety Net Providers in Iowa. The corporation is directed by a
board of directors. The board meets regularly to provide oversight and
direction.
